About this piece
Details: Origin: North Afghanistan Age: Circa Late 18th Century Dimensions: 5 ” Length Description: Collector Alert! This piece is only available to museums and collectors. This set of very well made and beautiful Silver Turkmen Bracelet Cuffs with Agate is made from very high quality solid silver , and was given as a high value dowry gift . The bracelets feature very old ancient agates and a gold plated surface with special ancient carvings that are intended to convey energy and good luck. These were made by hammering layers of silver sheets together until they become solid and sturdy. This beautiful, collectible bracelet set is heavy and contains over a pound of silver and jewels. An incredible amount of energy, time, and resources went into the creation of this set and nothing quite like it is made today. The number of bands on each bracelet, starting with one band, are symbolic of the social status of the recipient’s family. Each of these bracelets has 4 bands, indicating that the recipient of these beautiful pieces came from a wealthy or important family. These are not meant to be worn and will not fit most adults; they were created to fit the very thin wrists of a very young bride.
Hand-selected and imported by Sadiq Tawfiq. Every purchase includes the piece’s story.
