Details: Origin: Afghanistan Age: Circa 18th-19th Century Dimensions: 34” Length x 7” Width x 7” Height Description: This is a traditional Afghan musical instrument that is often played alongside drums. The Rubab has been used for the last two or three thousand years by musicians and spiritual people for meditation. Usually the rubab has up to 15 strings and is played with a plectrum. It is played around the middle-east and India during traditional ceremonies such as the Whirling Dervish. Followers of Romi and Sofies used the rubab music for their dances and sang beautiful songs of love, peace and humanities. Many national dance and manajat can be orchestrated with sounds of the rubab.
