Details: Origin: Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan Age: Circa 1900 Dimensions: 30” x 50” (approximate) Description: This fine, hand-woven Bukhara Jawal bag was made in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif in North Afghanistan with natural dyes and was given to it’s original owner as a dowry gift . This piece is a symmetrical and features a different design on each side. The beveled corners are meant to be the top of the piece. The colors of red, maroon, green, and white represent exotic energy, good luck, prosperity, purity, and cleanliness. These natural dyes have held up extremely well over the last 120 years. This one-of-a-kind piece is made from very fine woven wool; the white portions of the rug are silk. The touch of silk represents that the piece is a very special dowry gift . The symbols are exclusive to the people who made it and represent universal good energy of earth surrounded by water.
